Steps

Select Parts Step

Specifies which parts are to be exploded.

Base Step

Specifies the base part to explode from. The parts selected for explosion will be exploded with respect to a face or reference plane on the base part.

Face Step

Specifies the face or reference plane you want to use to define the explode vector.

Direction Step

Defines the explode direction vector. You use your cursor to position the vector arrow in the direction you want.

Settings Step

Specifies the settings for the explosion.

Explode/Finish/Cancel

This button changes function as you move through the feature construction process. The Explode button explodes the parts based on the criteria you specified in the previous steps. The Finish button constructs the feature using input provided in the other steps. Once you construct the feature, you can edit it by re-selecting the appropriate step on the command bar. The Cancel button discards any input and exits the command.

Select Parts Step Options

Deselect (x)

Clears the selection.

Accept (check mark)

Accepts the selection.

Face Step Options

Show Part Planes

Displays the reference planes for the selected part. You can use the reference planes to define the explode direction. The can be useful for parts which do not have a face that allows you to define the explode direction you want.

Hide Part Planes

Hides the reference planes for the selected part.

Settings Step Options

Manual Explode Options

Displays the Manual Explode Options dialog box so you can set the explode options you want.

Distance

Specifies the distance the part is offset relative to its parent. You can also change the offset distance before finishing the command. Type a new value, then click Explode again to change the offset distance. This allows you to make adjustments to the offset distance before finishing the command.

You can also use the Move Exploded Part command to adjust the offset distance.
