View and Markup

With View and Markup you can:

The View and Markup interface

View and Markup is a native Windows application, so the commands behave like typical Windows commands.  The View and Markup window consists of:

The top portion of the interface contains toolbars of commands you need to manage, view, and mark up documents. Access to the commands on these toolbars depends on the type of document that is open. For example, commands used to rotate a 2-D image are not available for a 3-D documents. When you can pause the cursor over a toolbar command, the command name appears in a tool tip near the pointer.

The View and Markup EdgeBar contains four tabs:

The Package List Tree tab allows you to manage the package collaboration file (.pcf), which contains a graphical representation of the active file, any markups made to the file, along with any other files that you may want to include, such as a Word document or Excel spreadsheet.

The tab displays a list of all files stored in the package collaboration file. By default, the first file in the packing list is the opened in the viewing window. All other files in the list are not graphically opened by default. You can select files in the packing list to display a preview image of the file. You can only display the contents of one package collaboration file at one time. If you open multiple files at the same time, you must use the Active Window command to navigate between the files.

You can right click on a package collaboration file to display a shortcut menu that allows you to:

You can right click on a file contained in the package collaboration to display a shortcut menu that allows you to:

The Assembly PathFinder tab is available when you work in an assembly or a subassembly within the active assembly. It helps you work with the components that make up your assembly. It provides alternate ways to view the composition and arrangement of the assembly, besides looking at the graphics in the viewing window. It allows you to do such things as turn the display of assembly components on and off, view different assembly display configurations, count the parts in the assembly, and copy an assembly structure as text to the clipboard.

The Model Views tab displays model views that are defined in the package collaboration file (.pcf) or JT file being viewed. The various views can be selected with a double-click on the view name.

The Markup tab displays a list of markup groups for the package collaboration file. A markup group contains a collection markup objects. Initially, no markup groups exist for a package collaboration file. When you create the first markup object, a new markup group is added to the tab. You can right click on the top level markup group and click Create New Markup from the shortcut menu to create additional markup groups.

Markup groups are based on a user name. In other words, each user that adds markups to the package collaboration file will have their own markup group that cannot modified by any other user. You can view and respond to the markup groups of other users, but you cannot edit them. If you respond or create a markup while viewing another user's markup group will create a new markup group in the markup group tree.

You can right click on a markup group to display a shortcut menu that allows you to:

The viewing window displays the 3-D model or 2-D image. When you open multiple files, the model or image associated with each file appears in a separate viewing window.
