Item Numbers page (Solid Edge Options dialog box)

The Item Numbers page controls whether item numbers are created in the assembly document. Once created, an Item Number column is added automatically to, and may be edited in, the assembly Occurrence Properties dialog box. The item numbers are available for display in assembly reports.

If you change an option on this page after item numbers have been created, existing item numbers are replaced when you select OK or Apply.

Note:

In the Teamcenter-managed environment, when you enable the Teamcenter preference SEEC_Synchronize_ItemNumbers, the Item Numbers page is available for viewing only. Definitions are based on the values specified with the preference.

Maintain item numbers

Creates item numbers in the assembly. Use the options to specify the structures for which the item numbers are to be generated. Selecting OK or Apply creates the item numbers.

Item numbers are assigned in assembly order, as shown in Assembly PathFinder. New item numbers are assigned automatically as new assembly components are added.

Deselecting the check box removes item numbers from the model.

Top level only

Creates item numbers only for top level parts and subassemblies.

Atomic - Top down

Creates item numbers for parts at all levels in the assembly structure. Subassemblies are not numbered at any level.

Note:

This option is not yet implemented.

Exploded - Top down

Creates item numbers for all parts, subassemblies, and subassembly parts.

Items are numbered sequentially from top to bottom as viewed in Occurrence Properties. If you create an atomic assembly report from the exploded item number structure, the numbers are not sequential.

Use level based numbers

Displays level-based item numbers (for example, 1, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3) in exploded reports and parts lists. These are generated per owner, where:

  • The top level assembly owns parts and subassemblies.

  • Each unique subassembly is an owner, and the parts and subassemblies under it receive item numbers based on its level.

Note:

To generate an exploded parts list on a drawing that uses the assembly-generated item numbers and level-based numbers, these check boxes must be selected:

  • Exploded Top-down

  • Use level based numbers

Expand weldment subassemblies

Specifies whether a weldment is counted as a single item or a subassembly.

  • When checked, all items within a weldment subassembly are numbered.

  • When unchecked, only the weldment subassembly receives an item number. Items within the subassembly are not numbered.

Start with item number

Specifies the first number to use when item numbers are assigned in the assembly. You can enter any integer greater than or equal to 0.

Increment by

Specifies a positive integer as the item number increment value.

Frame and Piping Uniqueness

For the purpose of generating an assembly bill of material report and a parts list on an assembly drawing, these check boxes specify the criteria to use to compare individual structural frame members, pipes, and tubes to determine whether they are the same or different.

Cut length

Calculated for the final length of the frame member, pipe, or tube. If an element is nonlinear, such as a bent frame, then the path length is used to determine cut length.

Mass

Determines whether two elements are unique based on their item mass.

Miter

Uniqueness for miter cuts is based on the acute angle value (between 0 and 90 degrees).

Note:

Leave all boxes unchecked to produce the roughest calculation, similar to a total lengths parts list.
