Edit document properties

You can edit properties with no documents open in Solid Edge or Insight, edit properties with an active document in Solid Edge, or edit properties with an active document in Insight Connect.

Edit properties with no documents open in Solid Edge or Insight Connect
  1. Choose Application→Property Manager.

  2. On the Select dialog box, select the document or folder that contains properties that you want to edit.

  3. Click the Add button to add the document or folder to the Edit Properties list.

  4. On the Select dialog box, click the OK button.

  5. On the Property Manager dialog box, edit a property value. The new value becomes underlined to indicate that you have modified the value.

  6. On the Property Manager dialog box, click the OK button to save the changes to the document.

Edit properties with an active document in Solid Edge
  1. Choose Application menu→Properties→Property Manager.

  2. On the Property Manager dialog box, edit a property value. The new value becomes underlined to indicate that you have modified the value.

  3. On the Property Manager dialog box, click the OK button.

  4. On the File menu, click Save to save the changes to the document.

Edit properties with an active document in Insight Connect
  1. Choose Application→Properties→Property Manager.

  2. On the Select dialog box, do one of the following:

    • If you want to edit the properties based on the BOM structure of the active document, click the OK button, and skip to step 6.

    • If you want to edit the properties based on a list of folders, proceed to the next step.

  3. On the Select dialog box, select the document or folder that contains properties that you want to edit.

  4. Click the Add button to add the document or folder to the Edit Properties list.

  5. On the Select dialog box, click the OK button.

  6. On the Property Manager dialog box, edit a property value. The new value becomes underlined to indicate that you have modified the value.

  7. On the Property Manager dialog box, click the OK button to save the changes to the document.

Note:

  • You can use the Files of Type list to specify the types of files you want to display on the Property Manager dialog box.

  • You can use the Save button to save your edits without dismissing the Property Manager dialog box.

  • You can right-click on any row that contains information and click Show Properties on the shortcut menu to access the Show Properties dialog box.  You can use the dialog box to add properties to and remove properties from the list, rearrange the columns in the list, and add new properties to the list.

  • You can change the profile for a document. You can select from a list of profiles from the document's parent folder.

  • The SEStatus property is read-only for managed files.

  • You can edit properties for any document that supports standard property storage. If a document does not support standard property storage, an error message is displayed and the property row on the dialog box becomes read-only, preventing you from changing the property value.

  • When you type a value into the Material cell for a document, a new local material name is created for the document. The material library file, material.mtl, is not modified.
