Place a driving 2D dimension to an intersection

  1. Create a point at the intersection of two 2D elements by doing all of the following:

    1. Choose the Point command.

    2. Move the cursor to the location of the intersecting elements, and when the elements highlight and the Intersection point symbol is displayed, click to create the point.

  2. Place a driving dimension to the intersection by doing all of the following:

    1. Choose the Distance Between command.

    2. On the Dimension command bar, select the By 2 Points placement option.

    3. Click the point you created at the intersection to identify the origin element.

    4. Click another element or key point to measure to.

    5. Click to place the dimension.

The driving dimension is placed as a locked dimension.

  3. To change the value of the driving dimension, you can click the dimension text, and then do either of the following:

    • Rotate the mouse wheel to dynamically change the value.

    • Type a new value in the dimension value edit dialog box.

Tip:

  • When placing the intersection point, you can select the Intersection option in the IntelliSketch group on the ribbon, and deselect all of the other relationship options. This makes it easier to highlight just the intersecting elements.

  • When placing a dimension to an intersection, use QuickPick to select the profile Point you created, not a Point On or a Line.
