Cut, copy, or paste an element

You can place elements on the Windows Clipboard with the Copy or Cut command, then paste the elements into the current document or another document with the Paste command.

Cut an element
  1. Select an element.

  2. Choose Home tab→Clipboard group→Cut .

Copy an element
  1. Select an element.

  2. Choose Home tab→Clipboard group→Copy .

Paste an element
  1. Open the document in which you want to paste the contents of the Clipboard.

  2. Choose Home tab→Clipboard group→Paste .

Tip:

  • When you copy or cut 2D elements and their geometric relationships and dimensions, they are placed on the Windows Clipboard. You can then use the Paste command to paste them into the current document, or into other documents.

  • Pasted text and elements remain selected after you use the Paste command.

  • When you paste elements into the current document, the pasted elements can be placed on top of the original elements. The pasted elements remain selected, and you can position the cursor over the set of elements and drag them to a new location.

  • You cannot run the Paste command if the Clipboard is empty.

  • You can use the Undo command to reverse the results of the Paste command.

  • You can also copy selected 2D elements within a document by holding the Ctrl key, dragging the selected elements to a new location, then releasing the Ctrl key.
